Dear District Governor,

To help clubs and districts be successful, Lions Clubs International has developed a report for your area to help identify leadership candidates. The Leadership Succession Report is a comprehensive list of all active Lions who have served as a club president over the last five years as well as Lions who are currently serving at the district level. To request your district’s copy of this report, please contact us at districtadministration@lionsclubs.org.

Also, as you wrap up your district convention, remember to submit the District Convention Report Form. Submitting this report ensures that Lions International has the nominated Lions for the offices of district governor, first vice district governor and second vice district governor on file so that communication can properly take place. Please submit the completed form to us by email at districtofficers@lionsclubs.org.

Reporting your second vice district governor is important to the strength of your district. By reporting this role, it allows them the ability to familiarize themselves with the duties of the district governor and be better prepared to assume the role. Encourage the second vice district governor to take the Second Vice District Governor Orientation located in the Lions Learning Center (LLC). This orientation online training will summarize the district governor's team responsibilities, focusing specifically on the second vice district governor roles with district administration, the Global Action Team and LCIF.

Once your district’s new leaders are elected, encourage them to visit the Lions Learning Center (LLC). We offer some great courses such as:

  • Action Planning to Achieve District Goals: Setting goals and creating action plans are necessary parts of being a leader. This course presents three modules that focus on using action plans to achieve Lions Clubs International and LCIF goals for your district.

  • Conflict Resolution: Throughout the six modules in this Conflict Resolution course, you will examine causes of conflict and discover several strategies to support you in resolving conflict.

  • Delegation: This course highlights the benefits and challenges faced by leaders in delegation and will help you improve this valuable skill.

  • The Global Action Team: This seven-module course demonstrates how the GAT supports the visions of Lions Clubs International and Lions Clubs International Foundation.

  • Time Management: This course presents five modules that provide strategies for improving your time management skills.

  • Global Membership Approach Orientation: This learning equips districts to develop membership through a strategic four-step process. This extensive course provides the information and resources about each step to support your district in achieving membership growth.

Additionally, encourage them to visit the Managing Your District (District Governor and Team) webpage, designed exclusively for your role. This page provides materials, resources, training and more to help you in your new position. You should also familiarize yourself with the District e-Book, which is a great resource that provides you with one-click access to many of the most commonly-used resources and tools and guides you through your tasks as they occur during the year.

Finally, did you know custom awards, including plaques, ribbons, pins and certificates are available in the Lions Shop? Browse the collection today to find items to reward your Lions and Leos for their achievements.

We look forward to supporting you and your district. Please contact us if you have any questions by phone at (630) 468-6776 or by email at districtofficers@lionsclubs.org.

Sincerely,

Your District and Club Administration Division Support Team
